Modify the registry before you restart the computer to switch to AHCI instead of IDE in BIOS.
(applies only to the boot disk that already has Windows installed)

Change the registry as described below before replacing the boot drive in BIOS from IDE to SATA AHCI.
- Close all open programs
- Start regedit
- Go to the following places in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Msahci
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\IastorV
- Change the value of DWORD 'Start’ to value 0 (noll), in both places.
right-click 'Start’ change the value. - Restart your computer and change the BIOS to AHCI.
