When you delete information from a hard drive, It's not gone, but, rather, is the index to this information which tells us that the hard drive could overwrite the old data. This is not possible with a SSD where an SSD can only write data to a clean block. It is like building a house where an old house used to stand. Trim is the command from the operating system to the SSD to clean free blocks of an SSD and make them ready for future storage.

If your computer is connected to a network that multiple PCs are connected to, you sometimes may want to exchange files between those systems. It does not really matter if you own the systems you want to copy files between or if someone else is connected to the network. If you do not want to configure the home network or just connected your PC to a network and do not want to configure sharing options, you may use a program like Filedrop instead for that task.
[Read more…]I do not really print that much anymore on paper, only the occasional contract that I have to sign or other legal documents that I’m required to sign and process. Other than that, I prefer to keep the printer spooler service and printer disabled. Using a virtual printer to convert documents into pdf format on the other hand can be an excellent way to do just that. The main reasons for doing so are convenience, as you can send documents and information straight from any Windows program supporting print to the virtual printer to convert it and functionality as good solutions offer lots of customization options.

Libraries, and Windows 7 is a really useful feature but unfortunately arrive function at a somewhat slimmed-down form. Microsoft has decided against exposing some really useful features for users. Fortunately, you can add network locations and all other UN-indexed locations, but it must be done programmatically.
MS supply a command-line ”slutil.exe”, candidate for the worst named executable. Pretty sure it stands for ”shell_library_util”. A library can display several different folders that can also be on one or multiple servers.
Through the program contig.exe you can defragment a specific file such as "Outlook.pst" that usually grow up and defragmented. Save the contig.exe or contig64 file.exe in the same folder as your "outlook.pst" file. If you want, you can create a .bat file in the "Notes" by right click on the background of the folder where the file is located and select – New – Text document.
If you have strange errors on your computer, it is advisable to check RAM with Memtest86. Strange errors can be that you can not install Windows, installation stops or restarts.
[Read more…]Backup MS Outlook Eng – copy two files called .pst
The ena called outlook.pst , that includes all your Outlook folders with Email, Calendar, Contacts, Data m.m. and the second archive.pst containing archived message from Outlook. When you archive a message, you move it from outlook.pst to archive.pst, therefore, archiving is not a backup of MS Outlook, it is an archiving of old data in Outlook, mostly so that outlook.pst does not become so big.
OBS! This is NOT a backup of the contents of Outlook.
This is the backup of the account settings for mailbox and its configurations.
