Icons gone in Start – All Programs, Windows 7

Icons gone under ”Start Menu”

Start > All Programs.
Is it worthwhile to follow these instructions.

1. Close all windows
2. Opens the Task Manager [ctrl Shift Esc]
3. Select the Processes tab and right click on the process ”explorer.exe”
   select Quit the process > OK. The whole desktop disappears
4. Click on File in the menu bar, select ”New Activity (Run…),
   write cmd.exe > OK.
5. In the command window, type the following command.

CD /d %localappdata%
DEL IconCache.db /a
EXIT

1. Click again on File in the menu bar, select ”New Activity (Run…),
   write explorer.exe > OK.
   The desktop comes back with icons.

The problem solved.
