If you have strange errors on your computer, it is advisable to check RAM with Memtest86. Strange errors can be that you can not install Windows, installation stops or restarts.
For each error that Memtest86 finds, a red line is written on the screen. The program has 9 different tests that it goes through. Press the key [c] to configure which tests to use or let them all pass.
Replace the RAM if you get it wrong. If the computer is overclocked, memory errors can be detected and remedied by clocking down.
Command Description:
ESC Exits the test and does a warm restart via the BIOS.
c Enters test configuration menu
Menu options are:
1) Test selection
2) Address Range
3) Memory Sizing
4) Error Report Mode
5) Show DMI Memory Info
6) ECC Mode
7) CPU Selection Mode
8) Redraw Screen
9) Adv. Options
SP: Set scroll lock (Stops scrolling of error messages)
Note: Testing is stalled when the scroll lock is set and the scroll region is full.
CR: Clear scroll lock (Enables error message scrolling)
