Many have complained about Microsoft's aggressive campaign of persuasion for Windows 10 the upgrades. Some have even argued that the operating system be upgraded against their will – and maybe they have a point.
Last week did Microsoft blow in it and selected Windows 10 as a recommended update for all. Those who have automatic updates turned on has therefore been given an upgrade scheduled – if users do not themselves intervene and actively declines. At the same time updated Microsoft instructions for how to upgrade to the latest operating system, and there is a rare formulation. One that violates all what we learned about how Windows interface works.
Involuntary Windows 10 the upgrades
Please close down this dialog box, Microsoft interprets it as acceptance. You have to click on the blue text below the date to say no.
”If you press OK or the Red ”x”, are you ready for the upgrade and do not need to do anything more”
So writes Microsoft if the dialog box asking you to choose a time to switch to Windows 10. The red x is of course the same check that closes the dialog box. A button that never meant ”Please, upgrade my operating system” without ”No thanks, leave me alone”.
To avoid having to upgrade to Windows 10 You must actively choose not to upgrade, It is not enough to tick off the dialog box. A detail that many probably missed, and therefore experienced the like Windows 10 installed without their consent. It 29 July is the last day that Windows 10-upgrade is free, and Microsoft wants as many people as possible changed up until. This is – probably – the final step in the long campaign of persuasion as a company vulnerable users.
