Folder winsxs grows with time and may become several GB.
It is a very important folder in Windows that you can not remove. There is a command that clears in this folder but it requires SP1 installed on Windows 7. My winsxs folder was 9 GB and after cleaning with the command it became 6 GB. Does not matter if you have a large disk but if you have an SSD or a small partition for the system, you may want to clear.
The path is C:\windows\winsxs
Check out how big the folder is before you run this command.
- Start the command prompt as administrator.
[type cmd in the search window, right click on cmd, choose to start as administrator]. - Type the command:
dism /online /cleanup-image /spsuperseded
[Spaces before each slash].
Valid for Windows 7 SP1 and later versions
